CoSCIE

Cognitive Screening and Cognitive Interventions in Egypt

About us

About Us

The mission of the CoSCIE is to adapt neuropsychological tests and measures to make them culturally fair for the Egyptian population. Our network of hundreds of psychologists and practitioners around Cairo representing 46 different organizations are committed to providing clinical assessments that are appropriate and standardized for Egyptians.

Committees

To join any of these committees, please send an email to: jackieberry@aucegypt.edu

Business Management

To help manage funds/treasury to ensure the entity can continue its mission sustainably.

Project Planning

To manage the various activities arising from the conference.

Scientific Integrity

To ensure the activities of the entity are supported or driven by a rigorous scientific process. For example, this committee will review future conference presentations for scientific integrity.

Cultural Test Adaptation Expert Panel

This panel will be available to provide expert advice about cultural adaptation/translation of neuropsychological measures into Egyptian Arabic. Ideally all Egyptian governates will have representation on the panel. The panel members will be recruited from the list of conference delegates and early collaborations with the universities and other institutions represented by the delegates of the conference. The panel will include at least one, and up to three, lived experience members, and professional interpreters.

Bilingual Speakers Expert Panel

This panel will be available to trial cultural adaptations/translations of cognitive tests to provide advice about equivalence across source and target tests. Membership will be determined on the basis of a scientific assessment of bilingualism.

Listing of people with cognitive

Impairment and their carers or clinicians with access to this population. This database will be drawn upon to recruit members for focus groups to pilot newly adapted/translated tests.

Consortium of institutions

To advance the goals of the entity. All 46 universities in Egypt with psychology, medicine or affiliated departments will be invited to join the consortium, from which the studentship and academe will be invited to be involved in research projects generated by the entity. This may involve being trained in standardised test administration.

Institutional Review Board

This board will evaluate studies wishing to conduct cultural test translation/adaptation and normative data collection in Egypt. This is likely to overlap in composition with the Scientific Integrity Committee.
